Perfect timing. I was just looking into getting some RCA's. Amp kits are convenient because you get everything you need to get the job done. They are pretty much for the DIY'er. Any recommendations for good/inexpensive fuse holders/fuses?

Barry, fuses and fuseholders are the bane of my existence. There used to be different levels of quality, not anymore. The stupid AGU fuses melt their internal solder joints, so the fuse LOOKS fine but is dead, they all corrode even if kept dry, just crap these days.

Fuseholders seems to be made of the crappiest stuff they can find and then plated with some cheap crap. Half of them lose tension on the little spring that holds the fuse so they lose voltage and current...I wish I could find some old "Tiff" distribution blocks.

Either way, if you can get a fuseholder that uses "ANL" fuses that bolt down, do so.

Jean, I have installed a few sets of the Premium Monoprice cables, I didn't find them terrible as far as flexibility goes. If I wanted better I would look for Stinger "Dream" series if you can find them NIB. Ideally, you want the old purple ones, they are better SQ than most IMO. They look like this:

MIT "Shotguns" are an option too, right?

This is exactly what happened to my last car but instead of the fuse itself taking a dump the holder itself lost contact with the AGU fuse. Best part is this had to happen in the middle of a road trip. since i had one power feeding both of my amps so when that lil bugger went i had no audio :( .
Luke are there any decent Fuse holders out there? And anyspecifc brand of fuses to steer from or ones you prefer to use?

Nope, from what I can tell it is 100% crapshoot. I don't even see Stinger or Monster talking about "100% metal" anymore.

Every time I install one, I check to make sure the terminals are tight and if they aren't, I tighten them with pliers.

Again, I see less issues with ANL type fuses than AGU.
