i seen on youtube a while back someone used a ipad as radio in a prius. i was thinkin of doing something similar but different. i want to use a smaller tablet as my radio but keeping my factory radio in. i want to install it in that open area in front of the shifter. the whole reason is to keep the factory look and be able to remove the tablet when i get out. what do you think?

an android tablet would be pretty cool, especially if it had a little dock and you could pop it out and take it with you.
that's like the gayest sounding thing ever, hahaha. :psomeone used a ipad as radio in a prius -
you're definitely going to want to run it through an amp, or it won't sound very good at all.Comment

I suggest getting an in-dash equalizer with a volume knob and running the tablet into that first. That will make it so you don't have to use the tablet for volume control and will up the power coming from the tablet to better levels the amp can use. Not to mention sound a lot better as you will have an equalizer to adjust.Comment

I've beenn playing with the idea of connecting my phone to an in dash screen via HDMI, and just having the androids interface as the cars home "theatre" interface. Internet, music, phonecalls, etc. right there one the fly.
