school me on sound

in desperate need of getting rid of my POS sound system in my e30 and coppin a new setup within a very thin budget.
i want something with bass too.
can anyone shed some light on the best route to go with this?
I'm looking to spend $50 at the most LOL

Well, it depends. You do not NEED to drop $$$$$ to get nice sound. The stock system lacks bass and treble...it really only has decent response in the mid to high-mid range.

$50 probably can't help you too much. Do you have premium sound in the car? I can recommend some tweeters to swap into the pods that will at least clean up the highs, and they are only $30 each.

Bass will cost more money, no way around it. You will need an amp & driver. There are deals out there that can get you there for under $100 if you buy used. All you really need for mounting is a piece of plywood to mount it behind the ski-pass hole. You don't even need an arm-rear rear seat. It won't be perfect, but it will make a hell of a lot more bass for little $.

Well my car already has an aftermarket deck along with momo speakers, but I feel like there is NO bass whatsoever.
idk much about my system, maybe I should look into it more.
How do I know if I have premium sound? hahah sorry i sound like such a nub
and I'm willing to drop $100ish on what I need to get in order to upgrade the sound quality in any way.

premium speakers have tweeters on them. the rear speakers are in an enclosure instead of flush with the rear shelf panel. i've got some premium speakers if you want a simple upgrade.

Decent sound ain't cheap, it takes skill and knowledge, too.
