    Thoughts on Phoenix Gold?

What are your thoughts on Phoenix Gold?

Planning on pairing a set of infinity reference components speakers with the Phoenix Gold Octane-R 8.0:4.

How is it compared to the RF Punch 4004. Just as good or better?

    I'd go with the PG.

The Octane-R stuff is their bottom line, but still decent. I'd prefer it over the RF, like Ken said.

PG stuff is on a decline as of late in my opinion.. they arent what they used to be... still nice stuff tho... but for the money of a new octane amp you can pick up a used older amp that will be vastley superior...

I swear by the Ti series, MS, and M series amps

also older soundstream amps (specifically the reference line) kick ass too and can be had for cheap

Word. I say grab a used one off of eBay for half the price of a new one. Try and find a PG M50.. it should be around $100 and will work great for those components.

A soundstream Reference 300 or PPI A300.2 should work well also.

Pinch some more together and get Kappa components instead of Reference... you will be glad you did. Kappas can be had cheap online from www.thezeb.com or www.carmedia1.com

There is a buy it now for 139.95 new in box (plus 22.95 shipping) and one with a day left at 80.00 on ebay for the Kappa 60. There is one with a few hours left but in the fine print it says no tweeters or xover. shady.
