I have read that the front tweeters are 1" but they are larger, more like 1.6" or 40mm. Is there a good 40mm tweeter out there besides MB Quart? is it that size a Euro thing?

Look through my build thread. I put up a x-section drawing of the pods & dimensions, and I highly recommend the tweeters that I used. There are not many tweeters that fit in there, or at least not many good ones.
How are you planning to low pass filter the audio signal? Tweeters are going to need protection from low frequency signals.

Ahhh yes I did. It was very impressive. I'm taking the more straight forward approach and using passive high pass filters for the tweets. I think I may not need new tweeters afterall."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

They aren't 1.6", the size of the tweeter is usually the size of the moving element itself ....these use typically 3/4 or 1 for most car/home audio speakers.
