Very Cheap 5.25 3 way speakers, that sound great!!!

I ordered a set of Kenwood KFC-1393PS 5.25in 3-Way for just $23 shipped from ebay (link below). The tweeter and mid does protrude, but it will fit easily behind the kick panel without any modification. Nothing is compromised. Door tweeters still sound great. They sound incredible for the money!!!! I do have a high pass filter on my stereo, so they don't play much bass car (I have subs), but they do sound great. My car came with pioneers installed in the rear, but these sounded so good I ordered a second set, I will let you guys know if they also fit in the rear. My e30 is a vert, but I think they all use 5 1/4.

I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

How is sail tweeter crossed over from a 3-way?

I have recently purchased door tweeters. I see the wire behind the door rear-view mirror to connect to the sail tweeter but I don't know where to look for the other end of the tweeter wires. I assume they are in the kick panel, but what are they hooked to? Did the original speaker have a crossover to hook the tweeter wire? Did you just hook it up to the full signal from the amp on the new speaker's electrical terminals?

Your in Chicago! Cool. I'll post a picture of the original speaker in a sec so you can see, but there is one wire that mounts to speaker for the tweeter.

Can you take a pic of the magnet? When are you going to do a proper photo shoot/thread of the new M tech?

          Here is the stock speaker.
This side had one small wire going to it, which was the ground

This side had two wires going to it, one for the speaker and one for the tweeter. I'm assuming the one with the smaller connector leads up to the tweeter. I spliced the two on this side together connected to speaker positive.

Haven't looked at the tweeter yet, because mine sounds fine, however I am going to be putting an amp on my highs so I will be replacing them soon.
On a sidenote these are nearly the exact same speakers I pulled out of my 98 e36 with harmon kardon.

I didn't get a pick of the magnet, its either the same size or slightly smaller :-(. The speakers are lower profile also. I wasn't going to post to many pics before adding wheels, mtI spoiler, smilies etc.

It looks like your speakers aren't totally sealed against the metal in the kickpanel, if you seal that up you will notice a big difference in sound quality.

They fit in the rear and really scream. I can crank my Head unit to max and they won't distort.

Thanks for confirming they fit in the door rear panels.

Can you possibly take pic of how you hooked up oem tweeter to it? My drivers speaker just went out and I'm really really tempted to order a set right now...

Now running through an amp yet, but coming very soon. I already have a 4 channel amp, just been to lazy to hook it up.

I just spliced into the speaker positive wire.

What about the neg wire for the tweeter? where did you run that? Or just a positive wire?

its just a positive. These cars have a weird grounding system. Have you replaced your tweeters? If so what size are they? Gonna do mine soon.

im planning on just switching the front speakers, i had to run my own wires to the speakers from the deck, so curious how to run the tweeters if i disconnected the amp... might just get new tweeters and be done...
