He stopped in today at the Freedom Bunker. He had a winter coat on and was sick with a cold but I spotted an apron under his coat as he was leaving.

Hey, do you know a guy in Eugene that own/works at (not sure which) Custom Audio? I told him I was getting a custom box for my E30 and he correctly identified you as the maker. Of course I don't know his name, that would be much too helpful.

Also, about when can I expect to see my box arive?

Yeah, those guys know who I am, they have seen some of my work. I have only met them once or twice, but I have a big mouth, so they know me.

They seemed pretty cool, all in all.

I don't know if you know or not, but I used to own a store in Springtucky. I do not miss that town at all, but I do miss some of the people there.

As far as the box goes, thanks again for your order. It should ship out monday, but might be tuesday, we have one hell of a backlog of work to get done.

Currently we are preparing to do another 8 boxes, as we sold out the 12 box run we just finished, then we will be doing 4 more 'vert boxes, a couple of E34 boxes and some E3012 boxes. I am running ragged right now, trying to get all this done. I am so glad the holidays are over!

Oh yeah, somewhere in there we will be doing a very special pre-paid only E28 12" box run...if you want bad ass bass in your E28, get on it, I plan on doing one run only, ever.

Hah, I wouldn't miss Springtucky either. I do my best to avoid ever going over there. They're good guys, they gave me a damn good deal installing my deck. I tried to do it myself, but when I pulled the factory one the wiring back there was a total mess. I couldn't identify any of of the wires coming from the speakers and I just gave up lol. Apparently my factory amp was fried too, so they had to bypass that. I just intalled a stereo I got my mom for Christmas in her Civic; sooooo much easier.

Actually, no. That Obcon is a far superior woofer to the D3: cast aluminum frame vs stamped steel, a bigger voice coil, a better magnet structure, higher power handling, vastly more efficient...just a way better woofer in every way, regardless of price.

That Jensen amp is easily as good as any $400 5 channel amp out there...in fact, it is likely the exact same amp with a different sticker, basically.

Let me tell you...that $500 stereo really does kick ass. It plays loud, low, deep, clean and sounds fantastic. I would safely say that it will kill any local shops work in an E30 anywhere for say, triple the money. Seriously, especially if you do the amp rack, take it to Custom or any other car stereo shop and show them, ask what it would take to duplicate the job...no less than $2000, I just about guarantee it.

I just got my E30 last weekend and have started planning upgrades. The car is in great shape so i would like to focus on the Audio.

I as well have just recently gotten an E30 (as the post above) and would love to get an awesome sound system into her. Been seeing so much about your set up, it really does look amazing. As Dadofour said, are the Lukebox's still available for E30s? Lastly, should I use the setup you recommend in your below $500 setup? I am probably looking to get a headunit, sub, amp, and possibly speakers, but don't really know too well what I should get. Thanks a lot.

If bang for the buck is the goal, that setup is the best thing you could possibly do. It plays clean, clear, loud, sounds terrific...I mean, yeah, better could be had, but you better be prepared to spend quite a bit more. If you go to a meet up here, you will likely be able to hear one. If you can, listen to Joels car (the LS3 powered beast) he has the $500 stereo. It sounds amazing.

So, as far as availability goes, we just finished a run of E3010 boxes. We were hoping to have 5 or 6 on hand....but, as usual, before they even get finished they get sold...we have 2 that are not spoken for.

We can do either fully upholstered or partially upholstered with the sexy amp rack combo package, we have both available. It may be a minute before we do another run of E3010 boxes too, as we have 2 different 'vert boxes to do, E34 and E28, plus a show car install and build my next E30. We will squeeze another run in somewhere there...but if you want bass ASAP, get in touch quickly. Just not on a tuesday.

John, I think we are looking at about $325 for the fully upholstered version. If it turns out to be easier to make a few of these, we will drop the price. The step in the front of the angle makes them very difficult.
