    Battery light charging problems

Okay so I swapped a new cluster into my 325e and it worked for a couple months the other day while driving home from work it died on me, found out the culprit was the battery light in the cluster wasn't exciting the alternator, I swapped my old cluster in (odometer doesn't work) and the light lights up and charging is perfect.

Yes I know the light could be burned out and swapped a good light bulb in and it still won't light up, is this a problem in the cluster? anyone else have experience with this problem? I want my odometer back!

Why not just fixed the odometer It used to be, that when the battery bulb went out the car would not charge. Then in late 85 IIRC, they used a resistor in parallel with the bulb so if the bulb went out the car would still charge. What year is your ETA?
