    Brake warning light

In the active check panel my brake warning light stays on. I've switched out a few bulbs and cleaned off any corrosion on them. There seems to be some corrosion on the 3rd brake light connector that I cant get off. However all the bulbs light up fine. its a vert so I have the weird 3rd brake light. What else? Bulbs are all nickel.

Its been on since i bought it. I heard you have to hit the brakes one time for it to go off. Is it possible the brake light switch is bad?

same thing here. when you hit the check panal button the dash check light goes off but the panal light stays on till 4 days ago, it magically fixed itself. now it goes off every time. go figure.

Mines been on since I bought my car, along with a flashing check engine light and another warning light in the dash. I just ignore them, it's easy when you come from a VW background!

the brake switch can cause it to come on randomly, but not stay on all the time (or your brake lights don't work)

all the brake lights work. i switched out a few mismatched bulbs and cleaned contacts for others. I don't have dielectric grease in them currently, may try that.

i just heard that the light in the active check panel comes on until you push the pedal down for the first time, thus thinking it may be the switch at the floor.

Any other places I should check?

So i am still having this issue and its just annoying. The bulbs have all been changed and the pedal switch too. I'm at a loss as to why the brake light check is still on. Ideas? Also, is this the check?

On my car I ended up using a wire to bypass that coil to get the light to go out after allot of trouble shooting.
If my third brake light blows the check panel will not tell me,oh well,I can deal with it.

                    So that is the check?

It's got some corrosion so i may clean and resolder

Flip that piece over and look at the soldering on the other side. On mine one of the wires through to the other side was broken loose. Soldered it back and all good.

Where is that piece located on the vehicle? I can't identify it from the photo

Its a vert third brake light housing

The most likely culprit is the check panel diode pack.

It is in the left rear side panel on 'verts, just in front of the antenna on sedans.

Clean all the contacts, 99% of the time it fixes it.
