    My Battery is Dying, Right?

I just installed a digital voltmeter and I've been monitoring some idiosyncrasies in the voltage that i think might be pointing me toward battery replacement. My data is as follows:

Key On/ Engine not running: 12.0V
After sitting overnight with key on/ Engine not running: 11.5V
    Engine running: 13.5-13.8V
Whitle starter is is engaged: 10.0-11.0V
Brake lights on (while running): 13.2V

Wait, what? Tell me you meant key off, right?

That is just about perfect, actually. Maybe a few tenths of a volt low, but do you have cause to worry? Has it been acting up? Starting poorly?

I meant that there is a 0.5V drop after sitting overnight. I turned the key on at night without starting the car and read 12.0V. I turned it off and slept. In the morning, I again turned the key on, without starting it, and read 11.5V.

        Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, I'me getting an occasional hard start. I'm also getting a sticky starter relay, despite the supposedly recently new starter.

Clean the orange starter relay near the steering column. Also consider upgrading your engine ground cable and possibly alternator cables. Customers have reported faster engine crank times with the set.

Only Autos have starter relays, if you have a 5 speed, no relay.
