Ideas for protecting printing/lettering on head unit buttons?

I just bought a new head unit and I'm thinking there has to be a way to prevent the printing/lettering on the buttons from wearing off as they commonly do. Do you guys have any ideas? Clear nail polish? Polyurethane film? I don't want to apply something that will change the look or texture. Maybe I should just put on gloves before touching it. haha.

I think the nail polish would work.

You don't want film of any sort...

Grab a can of Clear Jet (Matte, Semi or Gloss)
Stuff is amazingly durable and if you can spray it evenly it will look OEM.

Memorize the buttons' functions and remove all the text yourself now. That would look clean and might keep people from trying to adjust your head unit. I hate that.
