    Best recomendation for speaker wire

OK, so I'm finally digging in and rerunning all my speaker wire (down the left side) and generally cleaning up my audio system. Some of my stuff is mixed matched and not long enough in some locations. Who of you out there can bird dog up the best deal on some good wire? Ive got the RCA's so i'm good there. This seems to be the best deal I've found so far.

not sure on gauge and such though so let me know.

Kimber Kable, bro. Won't do you wrong. It's expensive but will last in a car and will sound nice.

12GA is pure stupid and pointless. 18GA is correct.

          Yup, 12ga is overkill.

Luke, common practice to keep the OEM twisted pair for speaker wire? What would you estimate the point, in watts, in which you would then upgrade.

Say you add a 4 channel amp to the four interior speakers. At what wattage do you typically change the speaker wire because of power handling issues? 75W/ch? 100/ch?

My call would be based on crossover points. To me it makes sense that any given wire will handle more power if it is not required to handle lower frequencies. I have seen wire burned from 300 watts while I have seen stock Honda wire last for years with 200RMS X4.

I base my opinion on the fact that lower frequencies require more energy to transmit, be it electrically or physically...so to me, it just makes sense.

Even at say 200 WPC I would say 18GA is adequate if used at say, 100Hz and up. Of course, that does not apply if the run is excessive, say over 40 feet or so per speaker.

All of the above is just my opinion, BTW. There are plenty of calculations to determine exactly what is needed...I bet 18GA is even overkill.

Quick add, I completely forgot: all of the above is assuming 4 ohm speakers.

I ended up going with the exact same wire in the first link I posted only in 18ga instead of 12. It was only $10 plus $5 overnight shipping,(somehow overnight was cheaper than all else).
