How many amps does an e30 draw while starting?

Like the newer cars, I'd like to fuse my battery cable. After doing my research, these cables are well insulated but can still result in some scary shit. I'm wondering what size fuse to use? There's a few decent reset-able fuses that seem like a good idea.

Honestly, it probably varies a lot depending on the condition of the starter and engine. Basically, the harder the motor has to work the more current it'll draw. The peak draw can be upwards of 150 Amps from what I have read over the years.

Hundreds of amps. Like 100-400. Not sure how or why you'd fuse that mess. Why? What scary stuff that never is gonna happen? I'd have put my amp clamp on and see. But like was stated, it's gonna depend.
      Now with 2.7i power!!!

You should be fine with a 400A fusible link or fuse. Even higher will be OK, you just want to protect the cable from a direct short.

Exactly! Thanks guys for the info!
After looking in the trunk of an e-class, it has a 320amp fuse. 400 should do the trick

Now to find a decent one that's decent.
