    RCA cables

What's the opinion on these RCA cables for use in a car?

Price-wise they're certainly an attractive alternative to the ZN5s that I paid nearly ten times more to buy. They would be connecting a Planet Audio 1800.5 to what will most likely end up being a JVC KD-X80BT head unit.

Cables are cables. How carefully you install them is more important than the marketing-gimmicks on the labels. If they get pinched and the ground shield is damaged, or the cable is bent too tight around the plugs and it breaks the conductor, then you'll have an issue. Otherwise, anything will work.

I have built my own home HiFi speakers and the materials alone for one set cost me more than my E30, and I use $0.60/ft speaker wire between them and the amp because wire is wire. In a car, considering that background noise under most conditions is 60dB or more, I am generally even less concerned about wires.

I'm running super cheap cables I got off of Amazon. Three 12' pairs were under $20. They work fine and I have no problems with them.

Running the properly is important though. I had some alternator whine due to running them next to my amp ground/power wires. Once I separated them, all the noise went away.

I just installed those Monoprice cables in my car. So far so good! No whine or interference. NRD is right, have to keep them away from the power cables. I also have that JVC headunit in my Miata. It's very good.

I'm down with cheapo RCA cables too. When I was doing my install, I just used a generic cable, I just made sure it was loose to not have to be stressed and, it's worked fine for the last 7yrs now.

My only bitch with the monoprice is that they are thick and stiff.

3 pairs is a pain in the butt to get routed properly

True, they are a bit stiff. Laid mine out in the sun for about 20 minutes before I was about to lay them in.

If I were to rewire my car I would buy one of the car audio brands 6 channel in one sets. Just makes it easier to run and really isn't so expensive that no one can afford it.

Also running your RCA's away from the power wire sounds reasonable until you realize that the ground has the same noise, and is your chassis, good luck running your RCA's away from the chassis.

                        100% agree.

I currently have Stinger "Dream" series 4 channel and "Expert" series 2 channel. MSPR is stupid crap like $220 for the two sets, but today's equivalent (8000 Series) is only like $70 and $40 at Sonicelectronix.

I would be just as happy with the $30 versions, or even the 2000 series:http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...er-SI2217.html
