Your right. So the speaker is mounted to the kickpanel?

This may just be me, but wouldn't it sound better (bass wise) if it was mounted to something a little more secure? The kickpanel is pretty sturdy, but not nearly as much as the sheet metal.

I don't think so.... My Kappa 6.5's are bolted right to the sheet metal. They are VERY tight, but it works and they sound awesome. I also had to cut up my kick panel for the speaker grille, and I had to make a spacer for the hood release lever.

no no no ..... not mounted JUST to the plastic kick panel. i cut a hole in the panel so the magnet could fit inside, then i drilled holes in the panel so the NEW mounting ring (gold-colored metal ring) could be fastend to the 4 stock speaker screw holes. then the speaker was mounted onto the metal ring. there you have it. sounds damn good if you ask me.
