I appreciate the offer, but I've already spent far too much on car audio perhaps I will try to fab a panel myself and cover it with vinyl, and I might check some local shops for prices on doing custom work. I'll just have to settle for my 12" kappa perfect for the time being, until I figure something else out =/ Thanks fellas!

Man, I have looked longingly at that space so many times...and then I think to myself..."self, you fucking HATE fiberglass, plus you are allergic as hell!"

Yeah, making something pretty and tasteful would be tough, but cool.

I will make you a pair of boxes with those badass Fosgate woofs in them for only like $800!

Black vinyl only, extra charge for leather or you supply.

Oh yeah...and it has to wait until I have several days of 70 degree weather in a row. Since I live in Oregon, that would be like June or something.

On another note, did you see the subwoofer box post? I put pics up.

I have a 2-door. Actually Luke, I had thought about that quite extensively. the 8's that I have require 4 5/16" mounting depth... it seemed like it would be pretty difficult to get them to fit, but perhaps you have a pointer or two? I'm not sure exactly how I would go about sealing the subs with the correct amount of airspace while not protruding outwards in the way of the back seat. and still not having it look like a hack job (I.E MDF in place of my rear panel <.<) I would love to put my 8's in there in fact, that would open up alot of trunk space for me :hitler:

The way I did it with my first e30 was to pull the rear panels out, trace them onto some MDF then cut, carpet the panels and put them back it. They didnt look very good(I was only 16 when I did it) but they sounded great with a free-air sub in there, then again it was 8 years ago that I last heard them so I could be wrong.

I don't know if "easy" is a term I would use, but yeah, they can fit...

Hey Colonel, you never said if your car is sedan or coupe...you could build boxes in the rear sides for a pair of 8's.

Two 8s can be made to sound great, and in some cases better than a single 10. Quality setup / install is the key here. Luke knows what he is talking about. I would even go as far as maybe mount a single or both 8s upfront in the passenger area, just depends on how far you are willing to take it.

CDT Audio, Diamond, Focal, Helix, Image Dynamics, JL Audio, MB Quart, RE Audio, Fosgate, MTX to name a few all make 8" woofers.

    bose is garbage.

I dunno about spending $200 on 8 6.5" woofers. Should be nice and quick though.
I used to work at a junk yard so I got them all for free. The beta speakers were great, wish I never sold the beta 8s.

If you fire into the seat, you will have to cut holes (oh NOEZ!) or something to get the sound in. Either way, that is one of the main reasons I use a single woofer in most of my installs in E30s.

Personally, I love the sound of 4 8's. E30s are tough to get truly impressive sound in.

Oh, and I do have 3 excellent Fosgate DVC 8's...back when they were still American made, not the chinese shit they sell today...very clean nice condition. I can get pics if you might be interested. Top fucking dollar, though, these are irreplaceable.

I agree with you, if you want to go with 8s, you might want to get more than 2 for the e30. I have one 8 in my e28(under the rear seat) and it does put out alot of bass(JBL GTX8) but the seat does muffle the sound alot. E30s having a foam seat would muffle it even more. Try using 3-4 high end 8s and you will have a very nice system. My old e30 had 4 Infinity beta subs in it and they were great! I have since sold the beta 8s but still have my beta 6s(2) beta 4s(4) and emit tweeters(2). Also might I suggest using these subwoofers.....
They are OEM bose subwoofers from chevy suburbans(console mount). 6.5 inches, DVC, they are the same woofers that come in the Acustamass system by bose. I have 8 of them waiting to go into my convertible. You can get them at any junk yard for about 25bucks a piece.

hmm... interesting. I still want to know if anyone has gone the dual-8" route, and if so, how it turned out compared to a decent 12 or 10. thanks for the info though, I'll have to look into that

    Custom sub enclosure

You guys may want to search for a thread by stereoinstaller aka Luke. He is building custom boxes that are made to work with our cars that will use the rear speaker shelf for port tubes from the box using a single 12" sub. I will post pics when I get mine installed which should ship tomorrow.
