Finally got the stereo in my Cabby. I need to clean up the wiring a bit, but everything works. The bass is actually OK in my car - I'm using channels 3&4 of a 4-channel Alpine amp bridged to run an old-school (green) 12" Infinity Kappa sub in a tiny sealed box. The box was designed for a different car and doesn't fit all that well in the Cabby, but I have a plan in mind for something more custom and out of the way.

the main problem with my setup currently, is that I can hear the bass, very well, it shakes the shit out of my rear view mirror and anything else that normally shakes; but you can't feel the bass, which is what I REALLY want.
you know, bass so strong that you can't breathe, it makes your hair stand up, kind of bass.

That kind of bass just isn't possible on a convertible. It all comes down to physics. The sounds waves have enough trouble making it in to the cabin, where there is no resonance chamber and so they just fade out into the open air.

I beg to differ. Anyone who wants to test it can come take a ride in my Cabby. ;) Maybe not "hair-standing" bass, but it'll shake the seats.
I barely consider the bass in my coupe to be "hair standing" but the only way I would ever own a cabby is with no rear seat.
In the meantime, I have found some excellent 8" woofers, so I am gonna start playing with box design later this week...but I have 3 weeks of bullshit to catch up on.
Right now, though, I am gonna go get my E30 out of my shop, then go play some pool.
Closing SOON!

Dual 8" ftw!
I'm just hoping to get some clean bass in the cabin. :o Maybe a lil' bump to turn on alarms too!
