My Favorite $30 Mod so far...(keyless entry)

Thinking about a Scytek G20. For $35, you probably can't go wrong. Aside from ensuring everything is connected properly, should any particular attention be paid to specific placement of the "brain" and other key parts? Going to consider putting it in with a friend.Last edited by SimplyDope; 11-09-2010, 04:13 PM.Comment

Would installing a keyless entry system solve other issues with my locks?
Currently my driver door has a busted cylinder. I cannot use the key to lock the door from the outside, instead I have to reach in from the passenger side to lock the door.
I'm wondering if a keyless entry system would help, and what products are out there right now?'87 325i "Chewey" (RIP, my beloved)

I just ordered up 2 REC-43T systems. I looked at a bunch of the newer ones with all sorts of extra features, and while a lot of conveniences sounded neat, it also sounded like a lot of work to get set up properly. All this auto-locking & ignition killing stuff sounds like it would leave me stranded, or locked out of my car lol. I want this sucker in the trunk anyway, and that would make operating dome lights & parking lights into more work.
Anyway, it looks like the REC-43T should suit my needs (and my GF's, I am putting one in her 2003 Civic). I really want to have the aux output pop the trunk. Has anyone found a solenoid to do this with? Thanks!Comment

My REC-43T just came in the mail. Since this sticky is rather old, the instructions and pictures on the front page are no longer available. Is there anywhere else in Los Internet Land where I can find step by step installation instructions?
Let me add that I realize I may need a soldering iron, but sinceI park on the street, have no access to a power supply.Last edited by BrooklynMW; 11-26-2010, 01:05 PM.'87 325i "Chewey" (RIP, my beloved)

Yes almost there. Still there are a few missing pieces regarding installation.
When you google "REC-43T e30" This is the site everyone recommends you follow:
It's a good play by play for the most part, but there are no instructions on what to do with the 3 pin, 2 wire connector. Also, I went looking for a 1A fuse and an inline fuse carrier today, but needless to say there were many variations to choose from so I want't sure which one to get.
Just missing a few pieces of the instructions, then will finally be done. Anybody care to chime in regarding the 3 pin connector and the fuse situation?'87 325i "Chewey" (RIP, my beloved)
