Swap airbag wheel and steering column for non-airbag parts?

I was wondering if it's possible to simply swap the airbag column and wheel for an earlier, non-airbag unit. I have no interest in a 30 year old airbag going off, it makes fitting a new steering wheel difficult and I think it takes up more room in the interior.

I know I'll still have sensors and probably a warning light to deal with, but is that all defeatable?

Why would you replace the steering column?
I believe you just need a spacer to install an older-style wheel.

You can take out the warning light bulb.

Yes ,I want to do that too.
Been told it's easy but will have the dealer remove the bag.

I'm aware, just thinking the columns are different and I could gain some legroom

unfortunally no, im a tall person too more leg room would be nice, but would require major modifications and there no kits for that, that i am aware of

I would think non-airbag columns are collapsible for safety, while airbag columns are rigid for support. I would not want a non-airbag steering wheel with an airbag column.
