e30 m3 to vert conversion.... hope it hasn't been asked before

so i want to do the m3 conversion on a vert... the question that lies here is this. Does the m3 quarter panel fit the vert? the m3 coupe of course. I sourced out an m3 quarter panel, but i don't know if it will fit. I work in a body shop so it won't be hard to put the new quarter on.. just want to make sure it will actually fit.
    thanks you guys!

bmw actually made specific quarter panels for the m3 cabrio. they have been nla for about 7 years now. with that said, the quarter panels from a coupe can be fairly easily made to fit with modification. the outer half of the inner fender will cause you a little consternation. m3 quarters/fenders are about an inch wider than the typical e30.

its not as easy as it looks to do this conversion. to do it right, there are hundreds of parts that make an m3 different than a typical e30 that you would never think about. the gas tank filler neck is one such example. the best thing would be to buy an m3 parts car but over the last couple years, they have certainly become unaffordable. for example: just try to find a decent m3 front bumper assembly on the used market. i think you can still buy it new, but the last time i checked, the parts that were still available will run you over 3k. basically, i am saying that unless you have well north of 20k in discretionary income, this project will never become a reality for you.

if i were you i would do a search here under e30m3 cabrio or m3 vert or m3 convertible. this has been talked about many times in the past. good luck.

You're not looking for an E30 M3 to vert conversion. You're looking for a vert to E30 M3 conversion. Just sayin ;)

I was expecting talk about chopping the roof off an E30 M3.

Same thing I was thinking, and was prepared to just watch the fire.

To the op your best bet if you aren't sitting on loads of disposable cash would be to find a fiberglass kit out of europe. The shipping would get you, but it is a lot cheaper than the alternative... Just saying

It will be super expensive. I was planning on doing this on my E30 and the parts were over $9000 new (if you can find them).

The vert has less parts to change since you dont have to change the back window and shelf which is almost impossible to find.

The thing you will run into is that there were no M3 Verts in the US so most parts and parts cars will be in Europe.

It can be done so if you want to do it dont let others discourage you, just know its going to be very expensive, and very time consuming finding all the parts you need.

Hell I cant even find an Mtech II OEM bumper and its the only part I am missing!

Haha I have the front one, I have everything except the rear. I may have to go rep which I am really trying to avoid.
