Can't stow my top all the way?

This vert has an automatic top that doesn't work, so I assumed that you could get the top down manually anyway like I could with my old vert.

It's annoying to have to shoulder the tonneau cover, but I can get the top down, but these straps are keeping me from stowing it safely. Any idea what might be the reason?

Lift the top about 18 inches. Push the straps and the fabric to the rear so they "invert" - they will kind of fold in. The fabric will fold easier, make the straps do the same thing. Then it should go into the compartment. At least, this is what happens to a manual with old straps.

Your straps lost their elasticity, you'll need to make that folks manually from now on most likely.

Thanks guys! I guess I'm gonna need new tension straps at some point, but first, the torn up window.

That s exactly how I do it.. Except for the pink towel I lay in the rear window fold. The art is to make people who are staring at you think that's how we ALL do it and to forget that your tension straps are fubarred

Btw love your upper back seat :)

Wow! I don't look nearly as smooth when putting my top down. I guess mainly because I've converted from power to manual top so there aren't any shocks to hold up the tonneau cover. Really need to put those in....

^ mine were shot until I bought new ones last year. I used to do the shoulder trick and hold the tonneauxw as I walked around the car. There's also two shocks that fit inside the top itself that help in raising the top. You have to buy the shocks and their plastic sleeves. I tried reusing my sleeves but they didn't fit correctly with the new shocks

Now I just have to get the cash together for the seat shocks

Between no shocks to hold the tonneau up and the elasticity in my tension straps gone I have to make 2-3 trips from one side of the car to the other when lowering the top.

Oh and the PO had a new top put on but didn't replace the tension straps. So yeah, got to wait until it's time to replace the top before I can get new tension straps.

I hold the top vertical, flip the bar and push in, then I carefully flip and stuff that part of the top that is bulging out above the bar and the straps in (0:35 mark in video) and then lower the top down and store it.

Everything stows away nicely using this method, but if you can't envision the "flip & stuff" step I'll try to remember to make a video when I have an extra set of hands to help me out.
