    Really need Help

I've been searching everywhere for this and can't seem to find a solution. I am replacing the convertible latch handle and my problem is the short cable (drivers) is so tight that I cant even screw the handle in place. If I screw the handle in place and put the cable to the latch the cable is not long enough to reach. Am I doing something wrong? I know the passenger cable has the screw to tighten and loosen the cable but not the drivers side

hmmm....i don't see enough information in those pics to see any issue. there really isn't any value in the first pic. the second: that silver ferule needs to slip inside the black barrel before you put the cable into the latch.

otherwise, take a look at the routing of your cables. perhaps one is routed into the wrong position and is traveling a further distance than it needs to.

The problem is the cable won't reach the latch.

try slipping it into the latch first and then the handle after? Mine was tight too. There's a certain way it has to go in

Alright I'll try it out. Super strange. The car is in the shop getting a manual tranny and LSD :)

There should be a tensioner somewhere. I replaced that handle a couple of months ago, but can't remember exactly how. Just trace out the cable path and look for a way to give yourself more slack.

Is it possible that the latch connection extends more when it is in the closed position? When I replace these I only disconnect the handle side and leave the latch side connected, so the latch would be closed. You can close the latch with a screwdriver to find out.
