    Am I going nuts?

Today before I began the task of replacing my control arms and bushings on my new to me 1992 Vert, I figured I'd better check the condition of my sway bar bushings and links. I jacked the beast up and crawled under, and to my surprise I found I had NO front sway bar, no sign that one had ever been installed! I checked RealOEM and the diagram for the sway bar showed one, a 21mm for the Vert. Usually when a part doesn't fit your car, RealOEM will give you a message like "nothing on this diagram fits your car" but that didn't happen.

So what's the story here? My car seems to handle fine in the curves (other than the clunks from the worn CABs). I figured if the sway bar was removed it should handle like a battleship, like my old 1962 Buick station wagon (where one of the end links had fallen off). Does anyone know if the later Verts didn't have a sway bar?
    Cheers,
    Paul

Actually a '62 Buick Special wagon with the Fireball V-6 engine! Hand-me-down car from the folks for my sophomore year in college.

Update on the swaybar...after looking at RealOEM and photos on the net, I decided to check the mounting points for the bar. To my dismay I found the tabs where the swaybar bushing holders bolt to the subframe have been CUT OFF! So I will be on a hunt for a subframe as well. I have this increasing urge to go back to the previous owner and slowly strangle him!

There is a tab mount upgrad one here somewhere, might want to look into that when you have the subframe out as it requires welding

That would be the same platform as the 63 Catalina I learned to drive on. 7mpg but then gas was only 38c/gallon. Eventually they offered to give me the car and I was like...meh !!

Rcsound1, that kit has the reinforcement plate, but still relies on the original tab to back it up...mine have been literally cut off the subframe. I've got a used subframe with 21mm swaybar attached on order from ebay.

Jeff...I wish my old Special had been based on the Catalina platform, the Special was the compact, same platform as the Tempest and the Olds F-85.

I was suggesting you use the kit on the new subfram while it is out of the car
