I'm running eibach 2.5" diameters springs rated at 550# for the front and 650# for the rears.

just saying, those rates are out there too. by switching to 2.5" springs, i have an almost infinite selection of spring rates.

Is that a coilover, how much, and where available. I have the H&R Race and hate them, waaaaaaaaaaay to soft for me.

bill, the J-stocks are not coilovers. they're a stock-size spring. look them up on Turner Motorsports (tms)

Most equations give the following variables necessary to determine spring rate:

              1) material rigidity or torsional modulus
              2) wire diameter
              3) number of active coils
              4) mean coil diameter

The fourth variable would indicate that all E30 OEM type rear springs are progressive as the mean coil diameter decreases at the top and bottom of the spring. Has anyone ever put these on a checker and checked the second and third inch of compression? Coil overs on the other hand have constant mean coil diameter. Going from a progressive to a non-progressive rear spring would effect handling. Alot of E30's with OEM type springs appear to have more lift to the inside rear than compression to the outside rear wheel.

has anyone ran the cosmo coil-overs...cause they are really cheap and seem to be a stiffer spring...any opinions?

^^ i have them on koni top adj. they are excellent but i have two complaints on them.

                  1. rear springs are 1" too long so i'm not even runnin the adj sleeve on the back so thankfully they sit exactly where i want it. I'm waiting on their 5" springs, but i doubt i'll get them maybe you can ask for them.

                  2. front sleeve is not the same diameter as the strut housing. luckally for me, when i shortened and welded my front struts i welded two more spacers in each that took care of the gap....had to hammer them in for a tight fit. They are Al so be carful

their springs rates are 8/10 kg/mm and the combo with koni's is just wonderfull i'm real happy i got it. Extremely streetable, koni's on hard setting and these are even better on the track but even still i run them on soft settings during drift events.

these come with some sort of nylon washers/spacers that go on the top and bottom of each spring that takes care squeeks and they adjust with the same kind of adjuster as GC's. i would buy them again. no need to spend another $250 for GC's...use that for your koni fund.

i read the writeup on shortening your strut housings, but how long did it actually take you?

I've had the bav auto springs with bilstien sports. it's a spring made by eibach cut for Bavauto. the fronts are pretty solid and the rears are load progressive that tense up under hard turning or heavy braking, but give a little bit on bumps. it makes a still comfortable ride that handles well.

they're definitely not the best for performance, but are great for a hybrid, and still significantly out perform stock. price makes them an awesome buy. i'm looking to up grade since i'm boosted and making some serious power.

the springs hold their own on my car, but i want a stiffer rear. with that said, i'm probably going to sell mine and upgrade soon. mine probably have 8k miles on em(i'll check later) i can PM you when i'm ready to sell if you're interested.

bottom line, it's a good spring with a good price and has it's ups and downs
