    Common E30 Spring rates

    Is there anything out there that lists the spring rates of ALL springs made for e30's? For example, GC are listed and sold by their spring rates, however many 'sport' or 'touring' springs are not sold the same way.

    Where i am going with this... i have a set of H&R Sports from an 84 318i on my 318is.,.. just curious of the spring rates in comparison with GC's.

    Here is a list I compiled which required alot of research. It should be stickied.

    All numbers in Lbs/in Front -> Rear

    E30 spring rates

    Stock M3 -> 140 -> 250 (others say 100,300?)
    Dinan Sport -> 172 -> 300
    H&R Race -> 315 -> 570
    H&R Sport -> 185 -> 380
    Eibach Pro-kit -> 102 -> 277
    Eibach Race -> 160 -> 445
    Ireland Stage 3 -> 315 -> 570

                Look at the part number on the springs and reference it with H&R. There have been different colored springs depending on batch IIRC.

                          I don't see why everyone thinks that. Maybe its because some people on Max installed them halfass and used stock shocks with them that bottomed and bounced to shit which gave them a bad rep.

                          The threaded sleeves and collars are very acceptable quality, I don't see how there could ever be a problem with them. I have never seen gc before but I would say that the OBX sleeves and collars are the same quality. There is not much that could go wrong with such a simple part. I have had them in for about two years without any problems. If you have ever seen, rode in, or had actual contact with them then you might know what you are talking about.

                          As far as the springs go, they might not be tested, who knows. There was talk about them having like 250/325 rates or something, I don't know where those numbers came from but my fronts clearly have 53 hg stamped on them, which translates to about 302.7 or something, and the backs have 450 marked on them. I don't know where OBX sourced them from but from two years of having an e30 sit on them they haven't sagged. I could put new ID springs if I ever have a problem, they are available from many different places and I would still come out cheaper than gc.

                            I've heard so many horror stories of the OBX adjuster collars just snapping, or the sleeves stripping out.

                            They are made of cheapo aluminum, and thats that.

                            I have seen pictures of the OBX shit compared to the GC goods. There is no comparison between the 2 other then the intended purpose.
