    DIY: Lighted Visors

Been researching for a while on how to change the plain visors e30's have. Finally found a nice decent mod, thought I share. Here's a quick writeup.

    Sorry for the crappy pics/vid

    Things you'll need:
    Dremel/Utility Knife
    Ruler/Lever
E32 visors with harness and light.

You can either take out the headliner cover or do it in the car.

First measure the size of the light and make sure its centered. Make sure you dont make the hole too big or the light will be loose and fall off.

Install light on the hole you just cut.

Install headliner cover (only If you took it out of the car, I decided to do it while on the car. Connect the harness to the visors and lights. I got power from the factory dome lights.

Looks pretty decent. Visors don't close all the way, as seen in one of the pics, but it's not by much.
Light lights up when you open the lid, and turns off when you close the lid.

    Cool DIY, thanks for posting!
So E30 and E32 visors are interchangeable? Would the E32 visors close flush if there weren't the lights installed?

No. It's not the lights that's the problem. The e32 visors are a bit bigger.

great stuff! I always have females complaining about the lack of lighting when they need to get a vanity check.

I did the same thing but installed floor lights on the speaker kick panel. I just took the e30 headliner cabin lights cut the panel with a dremel and ran wiring to the door plunger. Works like a charm and looks factory.

nice job on the visor lights! :-)

Thanks guys. Looks pretty stock. I'll probably be redoing it though since I didn't have the right tools to cut the headliner.

send me a pm on the dimensions; measurements from the outside, bottom, top. this way I'll know how to center the lights.

I think it might look better with a single "vert" light on each side with the option to turn on and off. those carry a 10-20w halogen.

Didn't save any of the measurements. Sorry. Might redo the whole thing and I'll take the measurements.

Thought about using these or the e36 visor lights but they are too small and didn't look right IMHO. E34 dome light look great, not to big, not too small. They have great lighting also.
