I see alot of people on here having issues with bleeding the cooling systems in these cars, from jacking up the front of the car, to drilling holes in there thermostats. above all that, i had talked to a friend of mine who owns a german car repair shop. i myself am a full time mechanic and i was asking him his thoughts on the best way to bleed these pain in the ass cars and he let me borrow a tool, wich after 1 use i had to buy for myself, Airlift. i now use it on every car i after i work on the cooling system.
this is my nasty old coolant bottle i was getting rid of so i had to drain the coolant.
car is too low to fit the jack or lift arms under, so i have to start like this
so i install my new coolant bottle, hose, clamps, deleted the cruise bracket and cruise, and the airbox bracket. and put on the tool. hook up an air line, push the button until the guage stops, at this point the tool automatically leak checks your system. if you leave it in vacuum it should hold the same amount for several minutes. if it doesnt hold vacuum, there is a leak.
it will suck all your hoses like this
Now you hook up the supplied hose , put it into your coolant supply, and open the valve.
Final fill level with no topping off since the air lift
pretty perfect
drove the car, has perfect heat, never goes over half way and this tool was 100 bucks, makes my job 100 times easier with the reassurance of leak testing every car before it leaves. only takes about 10 minutes to use and i recommend it to anyone working on these cars regularly :)
happy wrenching
