    awesome vert mod! must see!

as alot of the vert guys have probably experienced is when you lift up your cover to put your top up it does not stay up on its own, this is because the shocks that hold the lid open are blown, well ive been trying to find a better shock for this problem for a while

here is the comparison of the old smaller lid shocks vs the new one, some people may recognize these as the seat shocks, these are a bit longer then the original ones but the work great, the only mod needed on these are a bit of grinding to make them sit closer on the post where the old shocks mount so you can fit the c clip, and i made a small plastic spacer for the mounting point on the shock out of plastic so it didnt move aroung on the mount

    here it is mounted

and look!!!!!!!!! zomg its holding it self up!!!!!!!!

your trunk lids looks awfully close to it. make sure they don't touch when you open the trunk with the boot lid up.

Your not supposed to be able to Riley. Mine has a steel cable that runs from the trunk lid hinge(iirc) to the deck lid. Only one can open at a time.

You can see the cable in pic two above.

            not mine...I smashed mine good.

left a nice gash/paintscrape when I lifted mine up.

            was so pissed.

That cable assembly was broken on mine when I bought it. Replaced it as soon as I was able. Pick-a-part to the rescue!

BEst thing ever: Hey, GF, can you put this in the trunk?

                Okay!

                *Opens truck*

*You open hatch to drop top*

                >>BAM!<<

                Trunk lid smashes GF's head.

                Much lulz.

sooo you bought stronger shocks? Im not sure whats going on?

I bought replacement shocks and they do the job just fine.

The old ones I pulled out were still tough enough for me not to close it by hand, but I guess the "breaking point" or when they do just close with pressure was less than the weight of my lid...I wouldn't call them cheap or the wrong shocks to use but the replacements I purchased at Guten open the lid on their own now

From last few days, I was noticing that car is having some problem with shocks and today when I checked it my car's shocks are blown. I need to replace it now. Looking for best DIY replacement shocks advice.

                      call guten parts and service.

They have a good price and they order quality parts.

The shocks I have, that I ordered from Guten, are direct replacements. All I do is hit the switch to open the lid and it flies open.
