Ssk took you guys 30 min, huh? Then why is it that this is the biggest pain in the ass of my life? I don't see how I can do this without dropping the driveshaft. The pelican write up is like 70 steps...aggravated.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

Getting the lever itself in was super easy. Modifying the selector rod was too. Bc I need to drive back to campus tonight, I needed to put it back together, but it looks damn near impossible to change the bushings without major disassembly. So far, not satisfied. Maybe once I get the bushings in, but the short shift just doesn't feel worth it so far after the test drive.
oh, and in case anyone cares...i didn't feel good about bending the selector rod as much as uuc showed, so i did a very conservative bend a minor grind.

Another option you guys may want to consider is the e60 550i lever. It's bent like the stock e30 lever, and looks like it has reasonably short throws.
In the pic, you can see:
e30 -> e60 550i -> Mcoupe
The part number of the e60 lever is 25117546373
The part number of the Mcoupe lever is 25117527254

I just yanked my old short shift out of my e30 318is, the car. I finally know what exact model I had so here's a short review.
z4 3.0 lever, ratio of 3.28:1, part number 25 11 7 543 193
EXTREMELY notchy, one or two finger shifts are possible and I'm a skinny mofo BUT when running this shifter (with all new bushings in all parts of the shift linkages) I got a disgusting crunchy feeling when shifting into the bottom 4 gears if I wasn't extremely slow and careful.
Back to the stock 318 shifter and im not sure of the exact ratio but shifts went from being about 2-2.5" 3rd-4th to around 7" or 8". It's obviously extremely smooth, but it feels FAR too grandpa car for my tastes.
I'm stuck on trying to decide if I should get the z4 2.5 lever (4.81:1 ratio, equal height to the 3.0 lever) or if I should get one of the z3 levers. Tough call1990 332i, 4 door
