How Differential and Limited Slip Differentials (LSD) Work

Car wheels spin at different speeds, especially when they're turning. So how does the differential help make them turn with such ease?

Anyone in the know please feel free to add thoughts about diff upgrades specific to our E30s

I'd like to point out that this is a very explanatory, very well-written page that everyone should read.

Its all about controlling those spider gears. LSD spider gears are most stout than open.

Very helpful! Thank you, now I know why when I have only one back wheel on ice I can't go anywhere.
