Can i use stock intake system minus afm with MS

Title catches most of the question but here it is.

Can i use stock intake system without the afm in Alpha-N mode in MS to run a never run 3.1L stroker? My thought is to use the variable TPS, wideband O2 and IAT sensor to see if i can get this motor broken in before i go back to the ITB setup. Thoughts? Im trying to spitball ideas as to how i can get this motor to run as ive tried stock ecu and 19# injectors and it wont run for longer than 10 seconds, but i wouldnt even call it running…i posted another question on the m20 section but had this idea and is more appropriate here i think. Thanks guys

You will need to tune an MS to run your setup, and then tune again to run with ITBs.

    No personal experience with Alpha-N.
I assume you don't want to use a MAP sensor because you're planning on running open ITBs without an airbox?

      thanks for your reply Panici!

yeah im trying to use what i already have on hand and the last motor ran well with the Alpha-N mode and the variable TPS & IAT sensors hooked up so hoping I can do the same to get this thing broken in and then the ItB’s on and setup properly

        Ah lets clear some confusion.

Maybe we should start with listing the setup that your last motor used.

And then we can discuss what you want to achieve with your new motor.

yes, you can run Alpha-N with the stock intake and throttle body if you add a proper tps. My car ran for several years this way. It will need to be tuned in this configuration

Had the RHD ITB's with the GM IAT, BMW variable TPS, wideband o2 sensor, stock m20 2.5L, and same euro headers and custom exhaust as I have on now. Other than that was basically stock.

All I want to achieve at this very moment is to have a safe base tune with the factory intake system using the whodwho built MS system. Ive reached out to John (aka forcedfirebird) to assist with a base tune to break motor in and then after that goal is to swap over (not sure how long) to the ITB's. Honestly this car has sat for over 2 years since I killed my last motor and really just want to be able to enjoy the car for a bit before I switch over to ITB's (as long as this setup will allow some fun while safely getting 500 or so miles on it).

The tps I was using on the ITB setup from before should work just fine, gonna go and pick up an adapter from Garagistic tomorrow to be able to run that TPS on the factory TB. This should work with this setup right?

what makes using the factory manifold safer when you already it running on the ITB? if you never had any experience with ITB i could understand.

its a new build motor and trying to sync throttle bodies might be difficult as motor hasnt been broken in. I have fhe stock setup on and had the hope the stock ecu would run it but no dice. So i think stock with the standalone ecu is probably safest to break it in around town and then ill get the itbs going again
