I have a question about the WAR chip. I can't get a hold of Brody so looking for answers here. I'm heading to the dyno tomorrow morning so hope someone can help me out.

I installed the software, downloaded the tunes, wrote the tunes to the chip and the car runs. I was testing out the software last night and when I read the tunes from the chip they did not seem to go to the right tab. Tab 1 showed the default tune, tab 2 showed tune 3, etc. Now I have no idea which tune is where. The tunes also had (3)(2) after the name. I am confused and think I may have even wrote back the wrong tune to the wrong location and am afraid my default tune which worked good enough to drive the car is not even on there.

Anyone with any ideas? Anyone know how to download the default base tunes from Miller? This is for an S14 with 071 ECU and MAF conversion.

the buttons on the tune "switching" aren't correct, they wired them in backwards or something (commonly posted)

anyway - you don't really need to switch tunes anyway, unless you're tuning for race gas or something. just leave it on whatever one you've tuned and call it good.

I was able to get a hold of Brody after calling about 5 times. He appeared to be occupied helping other customers. He spent plenty of time on the phone helping me and was a big help.

Here is what I found. The tunes downloaded during the install wizard are stored under "documents and settings" in a folder called "wc" So the original base tunes were still there.

Next, when uploading tunes to the chip, tab 1 goes to position 1 on the chip, tab 2 to position 2, etc. The bug is that when you read from the chip, Position 4 downloads to tab 1, and the rest shift down a tab. If you then upload they stay shifted like this until you read the chip again and they shift again. It can be hard to follow what tune is where this way. I plan to just save the tunes onto the computer and only write to the chip and not rely on reading from the chip.

Pleas note that this bug is not on all the chips and it is my understanding that it is not even consistent on different ECU's. Some of you with the 071 ECU may not have this problem. I have not been able to find any info about it so assume it is not wide spread. Brody and his team are working to resolve the issue and I hope my testing will help them understand what is happening. BTW, per Brody's suggestion I changed the max RPM to something different on each tune and was able to figure out which tune was is which spot. Just turn the knob and see how high it revs.

Same bugs here! I just installed the WAR and im having the same problems with the tabs shifting positions. Ilateapex solution of not relying on reading from the chip is what i opted to do. Just edit on computer and copy to chip.

The 071 ECU (s14) has the tab jumping thing as well. I have other issues as well, I even has a video of proof!

You guys know the P/T Fuel how exactly works? We have in the upright section the Load (M/S) with 3 3 3 3 4 4 5 5 6 7 7 7 8 or something like that.

For example, if I'm cruising at 3k RPM and climbing slowly at 1/4 or 1/2 throttle position, and I'm getting too rich (10.1 AFR) where I'm supose to lower the values in that MAP to reduce the fuel being injected under that load?

Does anyone have an idea how to get different load settings? I am running forced induction and I have had a lot of trouble getting a MAF map for it. I am pretty sure you can only modify the table values, so I need a .mpc file that has all the load ranges. KAmotors used to have one, but no longer has the file.

I also have some tunes that I made on Excel for the b25, sharing sounds good!

I completely agree. I have quite a few tunes I am willing to share right now. Message me your email address and I will set up a Dropbox for it. Everyone can just add their tunes if they choose to.

People rightfully feels that their tune its their own, yet the program that it's
written on they did squat for, someone else did and they should be rightfully compensated for.

Now you must understand the concept that sharing with someone whom has paid into it it's a whole different game than cloning and free loading.

In all, it kills any further commercial development of goodies for our community.

I thought on their website they promote sharing tunes, when the WAR forum was up people posted .mpc files for download.

huh?

you paid miller for the ability to tune your own DME. that's the point of a WAR chip, right? it's not really any different than installing a Megasquirt - you're paying for the hardware that allows you to self tune. If all you wanted was an off the shelf tune you could have just bout a regular chip.

Megasquirt guys spend money on dyno time, and fuel, getting their maps right - and nobody even bats an eye about sharing their files because everyone benefits. The community is growing all the time. I've given away my own maps that I spent more than $500 in dyno time on all over the place. Why not?

the WAR guys freak out and now you're saying sharing tunes, for hardware that's meant for you to be able to tune, is bad because it will kill the market? It doesn't make any sense.

if you want to stay in the dark ages, black-box style tuning, that's fine, I won't stop you. Just making a suggestion that would most likely help you guys and Miller, not hurt them. A strong tuning community built around their platform would ultimately be better for sales of the hardware (and even software) than a "SHHHH! don't look behind the curtain!" approach.

when you buy a laptop you might order it loaded with whatever programs you like, but if you send me a file and I don't have the program to open it, then i must buy same program, not source it for free., that's what I'm saying., be it Microsoft, Apple or whatever other developer out there.

yes, the community would grow, but if there's no seed monies there will be no developers, that's a fact. you can't have chickens without eggs nor eggs without chickens.

I would love to have W.A.R.'s roots files and tweek it to whatever sensors I add to my car, even create an app for it so i could use my phone to tune it with, but that's not their stand at the moment, therefor no apps., respects for intellectual rights it like non existent.
Same goes for root files for this website, did you guy's just when and copied of the net or are you paying for the right to use the format.,
