    Hi all,

I am about to test my car with a WAR chip + 3 MAF conversion. Currently I have a 2.7 stroker (885 head), stahl long tube headers, M50 green top injectors (I believe 17.5 lb.)

I will start testing a 2.8 + stroker tune I found on Miller forum and also several 87 octane regular MAF tunes also from Miller forum. If someone has a similar set up and experience I would appreciate if a tune could be shared.

I will also share here and on Miller Forum anything I can came up with.

BTW awesome and prompt support from Brody, I have been bothering with newbie questions and he has been very polite and fast with the answers, helped me a lot so far!

Anyone have no start issues with their chip? I have a stock m20 aside from 17lb
injectors. All had been fine for weeks aside from 3 stalls at various stop lights
until the fourth stall which resulted in a no start. Did the diag thing with miller
which yielded no results. Swaped the war with a stock chip and the car starts right up. Tried disconnecting cables, formatting chip and on and on.

TPS seems to be okay but my aftermarket afpr apparently went out.. never had an afpr go out on me so the symptoms were different from stock.. now my tunes and everything are responding a lot better.. anyone have advice for tuning ignition for an NA motor.. thats one thing i havent touched yet..

also.. do you guys find it better to turn off the stock O2 completely or just while tuning.. I have mine completely off and my afr seems to be more consistent..

I'll second that, also, only use e30 type of TPS as variable rate ones (E36 etc) are not compatible with program.,

WOT is typically when the throttle is Wide Open. This is determined by the TPS. Depending on how you adjust your TPS it cold be before actual WOT but not sure why you would want to. You have to check continuity of the switch to be sure you are even getting there. I recommend doing this at the ECU to make sure the signal is getting there.

Ive had my warchip for awhile now and have finally started messing around with the fuel maps.. had pretty severe hesitation issues while using the gen III maf 19# tune and it seemed to be the WOT fuel set too low.. now running 12.5ish afr as opposed to 15ish which was horrible.. Also.. at what point is the pedal considered at WOT?? just out of curiosity if anyone knows.. or is it just all the way to the floor..?

Suppose I will post my recent experience with the Miller MAF and War Chip.

This was installed on a bone stock US E30 M3 2.3l

At first I thought it was very cool how I could just put the ECU on my desk and hook it into my laptop. The installation of the software went without issue.

The name of the tunes they use is fairly confusing, but I guessed at one of the tunes and the car fired up, idled terribly and would die at the touch of the throttle.

I emailed Miller several times and I have to say I got some very generic responses.

I was sent some tunes from Alex and one of them did work and the car fires up and is driveable but feels very lazy and throttle response is not that great. It actually drives worse then with the stock AFM and stock chip. But I get that it needs to be tuned.

This is where I found out that you cannot 'Live' tune with the car running as you cannot have USB power and vehicle power at the same time.

The War chip is pretty cool, but not being able to do live tuning, no WB O2 sensor support, no data logging, seems pretty handicapped.

Bottom line, it works, but just realize that your on your own as customer service seems to be pretty brief.

I look forward to playing with the software and getting this M3 running strong.

So I showed the program to a tunner who had never used it. He had it figured out in not time said it was pretty simple.

    ok

as a new e30 owner, i've been extremely pleased with the community up to this point. however, this thread is disheartening. the e30 community is so developed and has done so by sharing information and empirical data. it seems out of place to read this whole thread, expecting valuable information and insight, and finding bickering and selfishness.
    huh?

i'm not quite ready for the WAR chip & MAF conversion just now. (i've only had the e30 for 6 days) but before the end of the summer, i will have to make some kind of decision about management and ridding myself of this horrid AFM. I'm hoping to keep reading/studying/learning as much as i'm physically able to in the interim. I'm hoping some of the WAR guys come around by then.
there is nothing really wrong with the AFM. It's funny that people still think a MAF is going to make this huge difference in power, when it's been dyno proven that it doesn't. Going from an AFM to just an intake sensor gained something like 4hp.

the one thing a MAF has going for it is it's cheaper to do the conversion than buying a brand new AFM.

    Any news on this?
