    VEMS install

About how long do you guys think it would take to install a VEMS if you have their generic wiring harness they sell? I'm looking into getting a local shop by me in orlando to put mine in for me and just wanted to get an idea of about how long and much money it will probably take.

With the VEMS harness it shouldn't take that long to fit it to your car. Its still going to take a couple hours though. Dont have any gnats nuts estimates though.

Most people make their own, so I have no idea how long it would take a shop to do it.

I had a shop quote me 8-10($800-$1000) hours to install it. I thought that was a little long. What do you guys think.

I was going to say to plan a whole day. They probably are overestimating to make sure the job does not cost more than you are prepared to pay.

Does anyone else have some experience with shops installing VEMS?

seems cheap to me, honestly. how many VEMS systems have they installed?

              why not make it PnP?

They have never done it before. But they have installed a Pectal ecu in their e46 M3 race car.

Really? I thought it was a bit on the expensive side since i have the premade wiring harness from VEMS. Is there really that much more work still involved?

Its a generic harness you said. They are going to have to learn the e30 wiring at the same time they are hooking up an unfamiliar system.

A pnp adapter would be significantly cheaper.

What Chris said. You just have the econoseal connectors and wires connected. They still need to figure where to route all the wires! Thats the tough part.

A PNP adapter would be so much faster and easier.

I can help you figure what VEMS pin goes to the motronic harness.

For my install I just cut the Motronic connector off and put those wires into the Econoseal plug. I then ran lines to everything else the factory Motronic did not come with.

Starting to think that i should do this again. Cause for $800 i can get my turbo manifold and Dp. Only thing i really need help with i think is the wiring for my bosch motorsports coil 3x2. and then for the sensors with two wires.

The coil is easy! What sensors do you not know?

gunni makes a PCB based PnP adapter specifically for the M20. plug it in and go.

making your own is alway san option of course.

If Gunni already sells an M20 adapter....go that route!

Do you guys know how much he charges for them? I still kind of want to use the wiring harness i have already though.
