    What's my ECU options?

    Hey guys,
    First post on this forum!
I am currently in the process of rebuilding my m20b25. List of mods will be once finished:
    - 2.9L stroker kit from IE
    - 288 cam
    - 19lb injectors
    - extractors
    - adjustable fuel reg
    - mild port and polished head
    - larger walbro fuel pump
    - take out AFM

Now for the ECU mod which I need help with.... I want to be run my ecu where I can tune and adjust easily so a chip is out of the question. My thought was to run an Haltech system with the standard Motronic system, Which I will be wiring all up myself (a whole day plus work I'm aware of). I notice everyone here is using a megasquirt system for their mods, is there any reason for that?
Does anyone know where I can find a sticky thread for Motronic ECU diagram and what runs off it?

What other options or systems do I have?

Running the Haltech is there anything I should be aware of with the M20 wiring?

You can always do moates ostrich if you want to keep the costs down and keep the stock ECU but still be able to live-tune.

    You can also do megasquirt.

The ostrich unit looks like what i'ld be wanting. Saw on another forum someones install. But is there a way of getting completely rid of AFM with ostrich unit? Do you know of anyone similar as to them?

Megasquirt is a similar concept with a haltech system yea?

A lot of people really like that option, but I personally know the moates in-and-out and can work really well with it, and the features are good enough for what I am aiming for.

Here's one on sale already installed in an ECU for $170 shipped. That's a damn good deal.

Miller is the least flexible. There is no datalogging or live tracing. Its basically seat of your pants tuning.

If you are familliar with halltech, the go that route. Of course there is the wiring - but some dont mind.

Megasquirt has been adapted into a variety of plug and play options - almost no wiring, you use the stock harness. You'd want at least MS2 - whodwho makes a vary nice pnp unit, as does diyautotune. If you dont want to spend days wiring, this is a good choice. The software and support is also really good, as MS has been done in E30s many times.

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that it is pretty flexible and retunable. Seeing there are other options i dont want to be spending days wiring, that was going to be last resort.
