if your exhaust is that fucked up it will though a CEL. any exhaust leak befor the o2 sensor will suck in extra o2 and make it think its lean causeing your short term and long term fuel trims to change. if its bad enough (a cat held on by drywall screws) it could affect it too much, usually if the ltft is above or below 25%-30% it will though a code. make sure everything is tight

First let me apologize for being a retard when I posted this in the first place. Idk exactly what I was going for or why I was being such a dumbass. With what I was planning on doing I didn't even need to touch the O2 sensor, so really, idk wtf I was talking about, and why I made this thread in the first place.

In closing, here's what I did. I disconnected the O2 sensor from under the battery tray and removed the midpipe. I used a 30deg bend and buttwelded the old flange to the new tubing. Everything worked fine and I didn't have to mess with the O2, thanks everyone who put me in my place.

E30s only have pre-cat O2 sensors. you would only get a code if you had a car with an O2 sensor after the cat as well. that's why E30s don't care.
