    Magnaflow 14816

looks nice, but im afraid the internet photos are decieving. 3.5"? thats wayy too big.
my M20 is n/a, i'll be running a header(s), and no cat(s). anyone have experience with this muffler?

    14816:

i can't tell if it will be too big for my car? i dont have a rear valence. im not sure why, but i dont ('87 325is).

i was also looking at the 14815, because its a little bit smaller apparently.

    14815:

the first one looks better IMO, but im afraid that due to being slightly bigger, it will be significantly louder. the only reason im even looking at a muffler right now is because i have a cheap set of headers in the attic, and there is a 2" hole in my muffler...thus being quite loud. any help would be appreciated.

I have the 15 on my vert

Its relatively loud but not that bad. Mostly at low rpms with the throttle on. Sounds really nice though. Has a very deep tone to it. My exhaust is stock otherwise though.

that looks nice, i think i'll go that route. i may want to find a resonator somewhere though. i have a feeling mine is going to be VERY loud. i dont want that.

I have the 14815. 2.5 inch from the header back. Magnaflow highflow cat. It drones really bad at anything under 3k. Once over that it is absolute sex. Id go with 2.25 inch for N/A. Depending on your headers that thing is going to be raspy as nuts. Will sound great though

update. i ended up ordering the 14816. since making this thread i have decided just to put the muffler on. the header is gonna collect dust in the attic, and everything is staying stock except for the muffler. i've been driving around now with 2 holes in my exhaust, and loud noise is making me crazy.

no way! 2.25" is smaller overall than stock. I'd go 2.5" at least N/A. People here are so ass backwards when it comes to exhausts..

i should have gotten the 14815 because the one i got is a bit bigger than i thought it would be. when it said 2.25" in, and 3.5" out, i thought the 3.5" included both tips for some reason. lol, ooops.

once it's low i think it will be less noticeable. or if i can find a valence somewhere that doesn't look like crap. i like the way it sounds though.

Dane, thanks so much for posting that pic.

I think it could be better with a valence or lowering the car or whatever.

I think that would kick ass on my E34!

^^ that sounds great! unfortunately my entire exhaust is stock aside from the muffler. i have a header lying around i might put on eventually, and run a high flow cat. for now though, it will remain the way it is. there is not enough performance to get out of a stock M20 to justify the added noise.

and yes, the 14816 would look GREAT on an E34. i got mine on Ebay for $191 shipped.

^do you have any pictures looking down the exhaust tips at muffler level? I like this muffler but it looks like the inside of the tips are slanted
