I had an e36 m3 rear section exhaust on my car. It sagged realllllly low. Although it did sound very nice. But the muffler +pipes+cats+resonators weighed about 70lbs. It was very restrictive.

Wow, that looks terrible. I know I have seen better fitting ones than that.

          ??

The e36 m3 muffler is one of the best flowing factory units ever made, and not restrictive at all, hence why you gain practically nothing when upgrading it.

Then move onto the fact that the e36 OBDII exhaust manifolds and midsections are VASTLY improved over OBDI stuff, you're left with an exhaust system that can barely be improved upon UNLESS you're running a heavily modified motor/turbo.

P.S. I have 2 M-Coupe mufflers with 3000 miles on them if anyone wants. They're shaped more like the e30 muffler and you could likely use one of them easily. They have a single 3 inch inlet with the dual M3 staggered tips.

When i was saying that exhaust was horribly made.. i was talking about on my car, not the muffler itself. And by restrictive i mean i had 2'' piping with a cat and resonator on each one, basicly stock stuff. I now have single 2.5' with a resonator (sound issues) and a straight through magnaflow and i have seem dramatic difference. Even before i had exhaust open header was way better, haha.

I can vouch for this - his car is the reason I want a stock e36 muffler ;)
