    575 Maranello muffler

I'm thinking by either cutting out the spare tire well or bashing it out of the way, that I can fit in one of the mufflers from a 575 Maranello. Its an 85mm (3.34") 1-in-2-out, so I'd run 3" all the way back with some conversion at the end to fit the 3.34" (with another full custom exhaust I'd also be able to put on the M52 manifold).

Everyone is going to be hating on this, but I don't think it would be a bad idea. I know the 575 is a V12, but it has two of these mufflers, and I think a 2.8L would still make it sound good (plus its from a Ferrari, its not going to sound bad). My 2.5" 1-in-1-out setup sounds good right now, but I really want to go back to having 2 pipes sticking out the end and put some pretty exhaust tips on.

I'm planning on this exhaust setup and also a 3.5" maf.
I'm about 50% set on this at the moment.

so you're going to hack up your car just to fit a muffler you got for free? awesome.

Is it worth losing your spare tire to put a Ferrari muffler on your car? There are far better options I think.

Not to mention, 3" piping is WAY overkill unless you are running a crazy turbo setup.

All i got to say is do it! Keep up on your tires and you will never have a problem w/o a spare, almost.

I once though about torching out the spare tire area, weld shut and do something like a e46 m3 muffler, since you can pick them up so cheap.

And I want a ride in your car when you come back out here!

Yeah because keeping up on your tires stops you from getting flats from nails on the highway.

Yeah - that is why the new "maintenance free" BMWs don't even come with a spare.

BTW, you want to cut up your car to mount an ANSA muffler????

I really don't give a shit about a spare tire...that well is solely used for carrying 2 12 packs of Coronas (takes time, but it fits). If I get a flat...oh well, I'll give AAA a call.

                  DO IT!!!!!

I think its pretty badass, your car will probably sound awesome, and besides that, if you do all the welding work yourself- its pretty cheap- but stick to 2.5, 2.75 max i think- My friend has a bi-turbo m52 in his e30 m3 and is only running 3".

the reason a ferrair sound the way it does is b/c of the FERRARI ENGINE, not the exhaust. the exhaust is probably no different than any other. same quality acoustic absorbing material.

u are much better doing a magnaflow plus high quality resonator 2.5" single pipe system.

complete waste of time and i bet it sounds like crap... but go ahead if you want.

I have a megaflow system on my car... 2x2.5 all the way back- I have a crossover pipe, one cat, and two mufflers... one muffler isnt near enough. It sounds pretty badass- but loud. Reminds me of a racing porsche.

Some people have bad luck with running shit over and it rarely happens.

Nope, I would never cut up an e30 m3 like that and I have no problem butchering a regular e30.

why in the world are u runnign 2 x 2.5" pipes. one 2.5" pipe has more than enough flow. part of the reason why its so loud is b/c of the two pipes. I just have cut muffler on my last E30 and even then it wasn't THAT loud.

I'm not going to be running two...an e30 with quad exhaust? Fuck that. I was only going to use one of the mufflers.
