    Dynomax valved mufflers?

    http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers/dynomax-vt-mufflers

I'm looking to kill the bloody drone of the m42. I have a straight through Borla proXS on the end of a 2.5 inch, catless, but including a resonator of some sort. The Borla sounds great when not droning, but my cruise rpm/speed is right in the middle of the drone. It's weird, the muffler is loudest when droning but gets quieter upon any WOT. The thing's fairly loud but not insane at WOT and the redline. I would say its a good volume when not droning.

Anybody have experience with the dynomax? I like the idea of the valve that is spring loaded to have a nice quiet cruise.

Or what's a really quiet muffler? I cruise on the freeway so much I'd like something quiet. If its too quiet I'll add an e-cutout for when I want loud like in slow traffic:devil:

it works well, but its common to get a bit of a annoying rattle from the flap im told, it happens at idle and transitioning on/off throttle

I ran one of these on my m30 for a while, and found it very raspy at anything over 50% throttle. It wasn't particularly quiet at cruise, nor loud at WOT. Just raspy. Also the first unit they sent me didn't have the spring attached to the flap, so at idle it constantly clinked and clanked inside the muffler like the flaps you see on top of old tractor stacks.

I ended up switching to a Vibrant, I'm much happier with the sound.

I replaced my Magnaflow with a Dynomax valved system to kill the drone. My experience started a grimace of disbelief from the muffler shop when I asked them to order it in. Once installed, it was quieter. Then I put some miles on it. Now it rattles at idle and drones just as badly as the Magnaflow did at when cruising (I run single 3" from the manifolds, no resonator). I wouldn't do it again.

Ok, that sounds like a terrible idea. I think I might just order one of these. http://http://www.walkerexhaust.com/.../quiet-flow-ssit sucks, I love the sound of the borla, but the drone is awful. It makes a quarter of the noise cruising in 3rd gear at 5k rpm than it does in 5th gear @2.5k. In 3rd there's basically no noise from the back of the car at all.
