I guess. But where do you think reliability comes from.

plus, yours doesn't run yet. Let us know in a year how it's working out. at least you have EMS and not a RRPFR. :p

I agree nando, I'm just saying its doable (although not reliable or ideal).

If you're able to weld and tune yourself and don't buy ALL new parts, you can save a lot and still have a relatively reliable and powerful setup.

But yea no ems, ebay turbo, and a crap tune, it'll crap out a rod real quick.

that's what I'm trying to say though. Somebody who asks if it can be done, probably doesn't have those skills, and probably can't do it. Plus why go through the trouble of a barely 200whp, maybe reliable eta turbo, when for the same cost you could drop in an M52, have factory reliability, a wider powerband and more potential?

          Troof.

Plus its an eta. It will always be somewhat slow. Just save till you can afford something that is worth it. It'll cost a lot more to fix.

Doing a DIY bulid and tuning without a wideband is exactly the same as removing your steering wheel and using vice grips instead. Works on paper but pegs the fail meter in reality.

Look in project car magizene. I think july of 08 has a whole article on building your own turbo set up for about 1500

Please help a newb figure out what I would need. Obviously a good, reliable set up is what I have in mind. What all do I need to have the eta engine ready for a turbo? Thanks in advance.
I have aStainless steel turbo adapter for e30 m20 engine, high quality piece for a really good price $285 shipped, it's made in the usa, very thick walls, external 44mm v-band wastegate must be used with this manifold. I'm selling it cuz i can't afford to work on 2 projects at the same time, i got a supra i've got to finish first, i also accept trades for chips, steering wheels, plastic bumpers, let me know what you have we can work something out.

Don't forget the cost of a new clutch and exhaust system. I'm budgeting $4K for a RELIABLE 8PSI setup and will almost certainly exceed that. Leaning toward the Dederic (blueapplesoda on this forum) kit - put together by a guy who daily drives his turbo M20.

As far as turbo vs 24V swap, I've had an S50 and now an S52 in my cabrio, and it's OK, but not really a lot of power. I'm going to (maybe) turbo my M20 sedan and see if that has a bit more pep. Might also just drive the stock M20 into the ground for the next 10 years.
