I don't do any tuning I make harnesses for m20's and I do metal fabrication. Exhaust systems IC piping ect

I don't have the money to do a build right after finishing one and blowing it up, so would you agree with what he said? because it sounds like you are okay with a rebuild or new motor sooner rather then later...

I'm only looking for like 350-400 max...I could probably get away with a nicely built/tuned s50 without boost if I settle with 350, which would leave me with plenty of room to boost later on.

I'm just looking for some direction to start looking into and start financially preparing myself
To me a 24 valve swap is a lil pricey and them to turbo it with the right and good components gets even more expensive...I would rather build an m20 and make 600hp...then you know atleast you have a built fresh engine to mess around with.

M20 are proven to make good power and also a very easy engine to work on and very cheap to maintain. Its up to you depending on how much you wanna spend. I also built an M20 because i want to road race and the car is balance pretty good with the stock engine...the closest 24 valve as per weight is the s50 and that an expensive wap and then turbo it your looking like 6 grand all set and done. Maxpsi does build pretty sick cars to bad they dont have enough work to keep me working there.

Ill post up a few pics on work i have done so i can give you guys a few ideas how i work and my welding skills.

Only 400 on those components? I don't think it's going to be very stressed :D

I've never seen an s50 make 350whp. A boosted motor should be reliable if your tuning and hardware are good. Assuming you don't have a crap motor to start with.
