Didn't take the engine angle into account when welding the bung/thread on?

I've never dealt with turbos, but from what I've read the turbo oil drain appears to be important. Re-weld, or 45*.

Its actually tapped, threaded, and JBweld sealed on there. There really is no way to get a good seal without coming out of the pan at 90*

I think Im gonna go with a 45.

Ill start this post off with:

        Came home to find this:

And ended the day with this:

Basically I build up my downpipe back exhuast. I also heat wrapped my downpipe and welded in the o2 sensor bung. For the exhuast I put a cut out in just for fun. Always thought it would be cool to do it. I love straight pipes but I cant drive like that all the time and I dont feel like pulling my exhuast for a day when I want it. The pipe is all 2.5" and its a summit racing muffler. Its by far the nicest exhuast Ive ever done here at my house with the resources I have. I also remade the section that comes right off the downpipe that I was planning on using but decided it was to restricting

        This was before

And now here is it now

At the end of the night I hooked up my battery and insured my harness install is good so far, starter works and interior lights and everything are good.

Looking good man! Nice work on the exhaust. My only gripe, you should have done 3".

For the oil drain, I think you'll be fine with the 90 degree.

            Good job, love the spirit.
MY only gripe is that I feel like it's going to hang very very low, but then again it's a 2.5" and not a 3". Looks pretty though.

Any plans to make the muffler more "pretty"?

Its tucked better then any other exhuast Ive ran. I shoulda snapped some more installed pics. The lowest part is where it has to go under the subframe.

I might get the muffler sitting parrelel with the car so its not at an angle but its not a pretty muffler to begin with, but it works. What were you thinking.

Thanks dude. Was lookin for you to chime in.

And yeah three in woulda been cool but The down pip I had was already 3" into 2.5" and my HP goals are right around 300hp so It shouldnt be an issue.

Anyone have any sounds clips of a turbo 24v with just a single muffler?

                  Comment

Oh don't worry, it should sound great! My M20 is 3" to a Magnaflow in the rear and it's quieter than a lot of NA cars.

Yeah from my experiance and what I've heard the turbo does quiet the motor down a good amount. I know my m50 with straight pipes was one of the loudest cars I've ever heard and even with a similar setup to this it was really loud. So this muffler should do the trick. And for when I know Im going to car meets and such I can open up that cut out lol.

I love the cut out by the way. I want to put an electric one with turndown on my turbo car.

Is that Summit muffler a Flowmaster type of replica?

Thanks man. The whole idea of building this was driving a car that just makes you smile haha. My biggest fear is having to troubleshoot once I get it running. I THINK the turbo is good but Im gonna have to find that out. Im gonna have to get the megasquirt tuned, hopefully my oil return works well, i can afford my roll bar. Hopefully my resealed trans holds, etc etc etc.

                            I think its a replica.

I hear alot of mixed of reviews about electric cutouts. I was planning on running one at first but with enough people telling me they fail, leak, and become a pain in the ass so I opted for this one. The cable actuated ones look tough too. It would be awesome being able to go straight pipes as soon as you pull up next to a honda at a light.

Lookin good Jim. Smart move on not getting electric cut outs. A lot of muscle car dudes have pulled them in favor of old school ones.

Was thinking welded tips, or a dump tube.
