FILM: E21 Extreme S54 Turbo 1000whp on trackday..

A mate of mine buildt a E21 from scratch and bolted in 1000whp S54B32 turbo engine.

Then he took it for a spin at the track... and here is the result :) The clip contains both driving and build pics. It will cover at least a couple of days need for your weekly BMW Turbo fix.

stock S54 makes 333bhp on 1 atmosphere of intake pressure, so it makes pretty good sense that it can do 1000+ on 3 atmospheres of pressure + supporting mods.

The S54 beeing the most efficient and optimized inline 6 production engine in the world it's not hard to understad the enormous power increase at boost.

Oldtimers say 1.0 bar = 107% increase in hp if stock compression/headsetup.
Compression is taken down for more potensial at higher boost, more accurate engine management system and better fuel E85 than stock. Just getting rid of the air mass meter is a big issue.

Another big issue, however not on the hp front is the VANOS block off. With VANOS enabled it would easily could have had a more brutal tourque and power delivery. 1200Nm @ 4500rpm and a 100% increase in torque in middle range Andreas at PPF claims. But still with well over 1100hp at the flywheel there will probably be no problem with 1100kg car.

But then we probably talking engine block cracking time very soon.
With even bigger turbos it would be no problem to break 1500hp, as the S50B32 euro does 1400 very well already.

New upgrades this season is active vanos, topmount turbo and som other small details :) The driveability will increase drastic. And alot more torque low down due to vanos.

This is epic......screw it, I moving! There is obviously something in the water over there that makes magnificent turbo builds possible.
