Oh yeah DO NOT GET MILLER! Maf is wayyyyy to finicky for motronic. Trust me I went through the same thing. Wasted money on it only to get a ms unit. Plus if you want boost fast miller isnt the way to go cause it wont ship out to you for at least 3 weeks.

whodwho also makes a fantastic PNP unit.

nothing wrong with the LC-1. calibrating is not a big deal. They do it because they can calibrate the controller to individual sensors for better accuracy. and you really don't need a gauge, although you can get an LC-1 with gauge pretty cheap these days.

ditto on miller. not a fan. talk to kamotors if you want some good direction.

another plus to a PNP unit is both Whodwho and DIYautotune have *excellent* customer support. For how "cheap" MS is, you can't possibly get better support. the msextra.com community is also fantastic, and the tuning software, Tunerstudio, has wondertful support too (and is only ~$30 for the full version, which you really want).

Firmware updates (with new features) are frequent and the developers, while a little grumpy at times, are open to new ideas if you have a unique problem that can't be solved with existing code.

I like plugging whodwho because he's an E30 guy and you're supporting the community, but the guys at DIY are great too.

I also forgot to mention the dashboard and datalogging apps for Android, and probably in the near future, iOS. the WAR chip doesn't have anything nearly that advanced.

I'm currently talking to whodwho on his PnP MS unit. I thought the whole point of LC-1 is so you can read your Air / Fuel mix when ever (that's why you'd have a gauge)

Yea I chose cheap, wouldn't if I didn't have to but that's where I'm at. I mean a good majority of us on these forums are dailying 20+ year old cars...

Just checked out your build thread on E30Tech and it is very insiteful. I thought WAR supports only upwards of ~50 lb's and you chose 60lb - why is that?

Cause I wanted to be able to support more powaa. We tried it with 30lbers on my friends e30. He used my miller stuff and had the same issues. Every boosted e30 on WAR softwar Ive seen has the same 1st gear cut out and issues. You cant data log and see where you are in the fuel/ign loads so its impossible to know exactly where to make changes. Its frustrating. As soon as I popped in the mspnp all my issues went away. Its so much easier to tune. Dont let it intimidate you, its very user friendly once you get the hang of it.

And I know the dd part. I dailyed mine turbo, roll cage and all. But if its your dd at least buy something cheap to drive cause a boosted e30 is gonna break, especially with ebay parts ;)

you don't need the gauge, it's just a fun blinky light. the laptop you'll need for tuning will have a guage for AFR (in Tunerstudio), and you want to datalog it anyway, not stare at a gauge (because you need to know what load/RPM those AFRs are at). Pay for the full version and use VEAL. you won't regret it, it's so easy. tune your ignition on a dyno, though.

Get plug and play MS, wyntomn wastegate will work just fine for your setup and im just getting to the upgrade part of my turbo build so you could buy mine if you wanted. metal diaphram is all you need to make sure it has, mine does and it works perfect

Are the injector drivers in the MS ECU strong enough to drive three injectors like its wired stock? This is the main reason I am not doing a PNP setup on mine. After you wire in a coil, wb 02, boost sel and injecotrs whats the point of having PNP? Does anyone here know how the MS ecu injector drivers are wired? I know on VEMS you need to wire all six injectors to the ecu to prevent the duty cycle from maxing out early.

                            OP,
Some may say VEMS is to pricey, but the guy I deal with gives you free email tunes for life when you buy from him. He is a very nice guy to deal with and knows what he is doing. If you want, shoot him an email. His website is in my sig, just hit the contact tab.

go MS for sure, whodwho has amazing customer support. WAR will only give you drivability issues and clearly I'm not the only that had issues with it.
