    Mls or o"ringing

My Plan is to turbo my E30 track car m20b25.
Goal is to have fully forged motor, and run 15-20psi
Will A MLS Gasket and ARP studs be better than stock headgasket with ORing.

you can oring the motor and use a mls too. Just make sure you are using copper oring wire instead of ss. Most people will agree to go with an oring block/head and stock hg work fine.

weld water channels/passages on the head it's just a good idea in general. the passages don't do anything for cooling, but they do cause the head to flex a lot around the gasket area which is why they fail.

      Ok, Thanks
So just mls and Arp are not first choice among tuners.

MLS are typically used by people who can't afford to oring or no one does it around their area. ARP head studs have been fine for me and my m20. Some people use turbo Z head studs.

It seams like a lot of people around here suggest orings and stock gasket. Personally I'm planing on using mls because i talked to my local machine shop that builds race motors and urged me to go with mls for high boost.

O-ringing is actually cheaper than MLS if you rent the groove-o-matic, and they will mail it to you, or your machine shop, so location has nothing to do with it.

People used to use all kinds of studs before ARP came out with the m20 kit last year. I used Mini Cooper studs in my car, had to buy 2 kits, but were far cheaper then piece-meal from ARP's catalog.

Some people complain about the MLS leaking, mine hasn't left a drop for the last few years. Just have to make sure you have the proper finish on the components. I have also used the copper spray methids on customers' cars with good results.

I think i'm going to just go with MLS And ARP (where do i get a complete ARP kit? with nuts) and What thickness head gasket should i go, ive ordered 8:5.1 Forged Pistons.

                  PM sent.

I would just use the closest to stock thickness. We sell the Cometic in .070", the stock gasket is .068".
