    Turbo+Manifold Weight

I have a TCD Top mount intercooler and Kinugawa TD06H-20g plus a wedge adaptor. The total weight of these combined are 19KG (42 pounds).
This seems like a huge amount for the exhaust studs to handle especially when the engine harmonics are in full force.
    Will this be ok?

I've heard this before and have thought about it myself. There are studs you can buy that claim to be stronger/made for holding turbo components.

This is the first set I found. There are plenty others that may be more suitable.

Good luck getting the stock ones out! Loooooots of pb blaster!

    Hope this helps

bad idea IMO on am aluminium casting much more likely to damage threads by galling

My HX35/40 has a brace that attaches one of the bolts on the turbine housing to two of the valve cover studs (M20)

You could fab up something similar to take some of the stress, but I'm more worried about the manifold cracking than the studs.

I was thinking of making up a brace, I have already installed new factory studs so hoping all should be ok.
