A high horsepower rally iX is a terrible idea.
If he gets up over 230 crank HP, he is going to snap front diffs on every stage. Especially if the boost comes on quick.
A modest stroker would be a far better set up or just save the money for a proper suspension set up. The limitations of an iX being a good rally car are in the front strut travel, steering rack ratio, and front diff strength. All of those things will be taxed 10 times harder with a turbo which adds weight and torque to all of that front end stuff. I'd love to see it happen, to be honest, so I am glad he is doing it. I just think.... know its a bad idea.

The flange that the turbo set on looks like a first grader cut it. Maybe its just an illusion...

K03 would be an incredibly tiny/stupid turbo to put on an M20. The K03 is choked as it comes on the 1.8T. It would fall on its face and exhaust manifold pressure would skyrocket in higher rpm's.

you won't have to worry about the manifold cracking. I wonder how a k03 turbo would do on an m20. Very small, spools quickly, good for 10lbs of boost all day long, readily available for next to nothing with low miles. I'll want to make a KO turbo setup once I get access to the schools machine shop.

those welds aren't very pretty, but I can't hate on an ix turbo. what else has been done to the car to prep it for rally?
