    SC setup & dropped in.

I have had the SC in my other E30 but could never see it from this perspective. After a control arm snapped and the Delphin getting crashed.. I am swapping to another body.

Just grabbed a pic as it was fixing to go in the new body.. Just thought I would share..

I have a few more pics.. Not something I'm good at unfortunately..

I had to move the suspension, drive train and the interior over to the new body.. It's been quite a lot of work.. I may put some pics of the car up later. Once all of this is settled in.

      Couple more shots...

The SC is an Eaton M90.. I'm only pushing about 6-7 lbs of boost for the time being.. You can see I had to move the alt. Power steering is gone and I don't miss it.

The motor is an M20 untouched eta bottom with the euro 323i head with triple ground seats, ported and upped to I valve sizes. Regular "I" cam right now which is my weak spot.. I need a better one. M30 TB and an I intake mani. Megasquirt has been on my motor for a tad over a year.

Here is the past E30... I had just put an intercooler in about 2 days before the control arm snapped...Then it was totalled.. Luckily most all the parts I had already replaced were undamaged. So I am moving all of it to another body.

i am doing something similar but to a m30b3.5. how are you liking that big of a S/C (orig for a 3.8 6 cyl) on a smaller motor?

It is a little large for a 2.7 but it works and was available for very reasonable cost..

I love the way it really woke up the engine.. Down side is I have broken 2 pressure plates with it. I really thought some of the other components would give before the PP did.. But after doing it twice I'm not sure.

                  Great looking set up.
What are you using for a crank pulley to run the charger?
How tight of a fit do you think it would be to relocate the alternator to the A/C compressor location and retain the power steering in the stock position?
I have wanted to do this for a while but don't care to loose the power steering.

Sorry I have been busy the last few days..

Crank pulley is from an M50.. Direct bolt on no changes needed.
I think several people have moved the alt to the ac location. It can be done.
My interior is black and I wanted to keep the air for the ridiculous summer heat we get here. I don't miss the power steering, it is stiff to turn when the wheels aren't rolling.. But when moving you can barely tell it's gone.

                      Nice setup there.

atomic linked me to this regarding the ps removal. Just wondering how the rack has been holding up.

From my research so far, filling up the rack half to 3/4 the way with fluid should do it? Do you think the seals inside would hold longer using oil instead of ATF?

I know, random questions. Thanks if you can help though.

this isn't common with our cars is it? were you tracking it? i'm in need of control arms but have been putting it off, maybe it's time.

nice work on the SC! a local guy is getting the dowing atlanta SC around here, I want to see and feel for myself the performance gains prior to possibly, just possibly getting one myself.

Sorry I have been busy and not getting my forum time in..

The control arm breaking is not a common event for E30s.. My car had been on the track many times before this happened..

I had a friend who is in the steel business for over 40yrs look at it and he immediately pointed out some bad spots where it broke, He said that it was from the mold being dirty when it was cast. The steel never properly bonded to itself in a small spot internally. Not visible from the outside. It eventually gave way...

The steering rack, basically I just removed the pump and reservior. Then flushed out the rack w/ fluid until I knew it was clean.. I filled it with atf then went lock to lock a couple times to get any air bubbles out.. Sealed everything up and it has been fine..

I still track my setup and the only cars I have any trouble with are usually the corvettes.. They can still out power me a bit in the straightaway.. No way they can get away in the curves though...:eeek:

Did you happen to do any dyno or performance benchmarking between the stock eta and eta w/731 head? How does it perform compared to the stock m20b27 and m20b25?

I'm on track to do the same head swap (only with VEMS).
