There is also a company called Paeco that makes a 4-2-1 header for the 320i that may fit. They have 1 3/8" primaries, 1.5" secondaries, and a 2" outlet. They want $320 plus $28 shipping with a 4-6 week build time.

Also, I thought I'd post a link to Ken Danielson's page on header building.

My headers were $399 in '04 fyi.

I took a look at that thread and it made my eyes glaze...probably because I am reading up on how to use my new die grinder to ruin the 885 head that Fedex should be delivering today for my barn find project (no NOT to put on my M10 although thats a thought for a new thread).

If I wasnt hesitant to put a fresh head on a 210k block Id be looking for a spare M10 head to play with.

I've been running the dual DCOEs for the past 15 years. They're a blast - both power and audio-wise. (the sound of then WOT is intoxicating...). I think they're THE prototypical classic combo for the NA performance M10.

I've had them set-up 3 different ways over the years - matched originally to a 300 Motorsport cam, then a 292 Schrick, and now to a 304 Schrick. To my mind, they're not finicky, as some might say - instead they're more set & forget - but the key is to have them tuned right (trial & error, up/down a bit with component combos to get a rough dial-in, then a wide-band). My last full tune was about 18 months ago, and all's still sweet. FYI - I 'fair-weather' daily drive my 02..

I've secretly been wanting to get a m10 e30 for a dd for the good gas mileage then slowly build up another m10 in the garage to take 30 pounds of boost or so, and try to relive the old turbo F1 days lol.

My favorite car in the world. I have owned this car for 18 years. I have 5 e30s an e28, an e24, an e21 and an e36m3. This is the car that make me smile every time I start it up:) 250whp and a verified top speed of 162 mph on Daytona International speedway.

Any info on this? I'm looking at this header right now and I'm curious to how low and off it sits on an E30?

After discovering the Paeco header, I think that may be the better way to go unless you're willing to put up big money for a stahl header or find a good deal on a used one. Same goes for the bavauto header. Unfortunately I have yet to see pictures of the Paeco header, or hear anything about their quality other than the fact that their protective coating is/was garbage.

I'm thinking the 1.5" primaries will be a bit large for a stock 1.8l putting out 100hp. Plus there are the reports of the 2002 stuff hanging low. There's also the fact that you have to run an adaptor that'll take the collector down to 2". That just doesn't sit well with me. IMO the collector should either have an outlet equal to exhaust size, or cone out to a larger size to help with scavenging. Running a 2.5" exhaust would be rediculous on an unmodified 1.8.

This is all just my opinion and speculation, I still have a lot to learn about exhaust design.

A 2l M10 with sidedrafts is realistically a 150 hp engine. Much over that and you start
having to spin it to where you spend real money on the valvetrain, and the drivability
                          suffers... a lot...
I raced one for years. It takes a LOT of money to get it to do what an S2000 motor does from the
                          junkyard...
even an S14 starts to look cheap.

                          t
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

the tep header drags over speed bumps. All of the 2002 based headers do. the drag in a 2002 also. There is simply not enough room under the car for them. I have tried several. The tep was my favorite. I don't run a header in my street car, because I can't stand the dragging.
